The Bluffton Fire Department will hold an open house to coincide with National Fire Prevention Week, according to Jon Kinn, fire chief. The open house will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at the fire station, 402 N. Main St.
The fire department will perform demonstrations from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.
Demonstrations will include Jaws of Life extrication, use of fire extinguishers, and what to do in the event of a grease fire.

Raid, a 1966 Bluffton graduate, holds a copy of her biography of her late father, "Howard Raid: Man of Faith and Vision," which was published recently by Pandora Press.
The Newton, Kan., resident returned to her alma mater on its Homecoming weekend for a launch of the book.
Seniors Elijah Tracy of Continental, and Jenna Eshleman of Landisville, Pa., were crowned Bluffton University's Homecoming king and queen before the annual Homecoming football game on Saturday, Oct. 1.
Tracy, the son of Buff and Tony Tracy, is majoring in religion with concentrations in biblical studies and theology. Among other campus activities, he is a hall chaplain, campus prayer room co-coordinator, Technology Center assistant and drummer for the Anabaptist Bestiary Project band. He graduated from Continental High School.
Aphaphanh Nussbaum, manager of Ten Thousand Villages, 115 S. Main St., Bluffton, announced that the Main Street shop now has Tree of Life Serving Platters created in the West Bank.
