It's not quite Halloween, but the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce Blaze of Lights committee is hard at work planning this year's 25th annual event.

The committee extends two special invitations: one for parade entries and another for Blaze sponsors.

Parade

The Bluffton Public Library is featuring more than 50 gift baskets in its Holiday Gift Silent Auction. Bidding begins Nov. 4 during the library's Murder in the Stacks event and will continue until an item is purchased at the "buy it now" price (indicated on select bid sheets) or when the silent auction ends at 2 p.m. on Nov. 19.

Here's your assignment:

Decorate a pumpkin but use only supplies from the place where you work. Can you do it?

Mennonite Memorial Home employees did it. You'll soon see proof. The Activities Department of MMH gave each department a pumpkin to dress up and decorate using only supplies from their department (such as spaghetti for hair from the dietary department, pill cups from the nursing department).

Lima Central Catholic senior and team captain, Kelly Ahman, was the unanimous choice of Northwest Conference coaches as the NWC's first Girls Soccer Player of the Year in voting Sunday afternoon at Delphos Jefferson High School.

Ahman's 14 goals, 10 assists, and overall outstanding play led the Thunderbirds to the first ever NWC girls soccer title with a record of 5-0-1.

An attachment at the bottom of this story shows additional NWC stats.

Bluffton Public Library will host several Halloween-themed after-school programs this month.

Friday, Oct. 21

The first activity is a spooky film screening on Friday, Oct. 21, at 3:15 p.m. Students and families are encouraged to bring something to sit on, a blanket and/or something to drink. No registration is required for the film.

Wednesday, Oct. 26
