Peter Suter of Shannon Theatre announced that "Taken 2" (PG-13) and will be shown at the theatre from October 19-25.

Show times are every evening at 7:00 and 9:30 PM with Saturday and Sunday matinees at 1:30 and 4:00 PM. 

Who is that little princess standing at the front door?

A community-wide Halloween party is planned at BFR Sunday, Oct. 21, from 2-4 p.m.  A variety of games, activities, and crafts will be offered for children of all ages, according to Carole Enneking, BFR director.  

Non-scary costumes, while not required, will set the holiday theme. A costume contest will be held at 3 p.m. with divisions for young children, older children and family units. 

 

Tickets are on sale for Bluffton University’s fall production of “The Real Inspector Hound,” by Tom Stoppard.

Dr. Melissa Friesen, an associate professor and chair of communication and theatre at Bluffton, will direct the show, being staged at 7:30 p.m. Nov. 8-10 and at 2:30 p.m. Nov. 11 in Ramseyer Auditorium in College Hall. The passing of the 2012 federal tax filing extension deadline at midnight tonight means that now is a good time to start looking ahead to the 2013 tax filing season.  Many working taxpayers may benefit from a review of their federal income tax withholding rate, according to the Internal Revenue Service.

The Ohio High School Athletic Association released its weekly football computer ratings Tuesday, Oct. 16. The weekly computer ratings are released every Tuesday afternoon beginning after the fourth week of the season, leading up to the final report released on Sunday, Oct. 28. The top eight teams in each region will qualify for the regional quarterfinals.

For the second consecutive year, Bluffton University sophomore Caitlyn Nearhood (Clyde) has been named Honorable Mention All-Heartland Conference following a solid campaign for the Beavers. She held the first singles and first doubles (with Melissa Hostetler) slots all season for Bluffton.

Nearhood was also named to the Heartland Conference All-Sportsmanship Team, sweeping the Bluffton conference awards this year.

 

Hilty Home, a retirement community and child care center in Pandora, officially became an affiliate member of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) in Bluffton today, Oct. 15. 

Previously owned by the Missionary Church East Central District, Hilty Home has provided excellent nursing care services to older adults since 1979.

Seniors Adam Clark of Bellevue, Ohio, and Jessica Deeter of Troy, Ohio, were crowned Bluffton University’s Homecoming king and queen before the annual Homecoming football game on Oct. 13.

Majoring in accounting and business administration, Clark is active on campus in the Business Club, the Investment Club, chapel, Sunday night worship, the student group SERVE and intramurals. In addition, he is president of the Ultimate Frisbee Club and works at the Technology Center.
