Bluffton's Relay for Life is June 21-22 at the Bluffton University football stadium, according to Jesse Purcell, American Cancer Society representative, helping to put on the event.

The Relay has provided The Icon with all the information necessary for persons to form teams or to become sponsors.

American Cancer Society representatives will attend the Friday, Feb. 15, Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce breakfast to explain the variety of options available for teams and sponsors.

Marjorie J. Marquart, 89 died at 10:45 p.m. February 10, 2013 at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. 

She was born August 6, 1923 in Bluffton to the late Charles F. and Fairy D. (Diefendeifer) Stratton. 

She was married to Frank Houston in June 1943 and he died in World War II in September, 1944.  On July 8, 1947 she married Paul Marquart and he died October 13, 1992.

Starting Friday, Feb. 15 and running through Thursday, Feb. 21 will be "Escape from Planet Earth".  Rated (PG).

Over 20 Rhythm In Motion Dance Centre' dancers participated in the ONU 2013 Dance Clinic with the ONU Northern Stars dance team on Feb. 9.  

Over 100 dancers participated to a medley of One Direction during the event.
 
RIMDC dancers range in ages 5-18 and are from Ada, Bluffton, Allen East, Cory-Rawson and Kenton.  

The girls took class from ONU students and dancers from 11:30-2:20 p.m., putting the final product together at the 3 p.m. ONU men's basketball game against Mount Union.

I know.  Sweet, right?  Oh, but you should see her when she gets ahold of my slippers. Eight months old and I am completely out-maneuvered.

The Tuesday, Feb. 19, noon meeting of the Bluffton Lions Club will recognize the club's charter of 79 years.  Lion Dick Boehr will give us a presentation on the history of the Bluffton Lions Club.

The meeting is at noon in the Patio Room of Maple Crest Senior Living Village.

Have you ever wondered what the Buckeye would look like with the water drained? Here's the answer. This photo shows the "Buckeye Stone Quarries" - does that mean there were more than one?

Although we aren't certain, our hunch is that this photo was taken from the "Main Street" side of the quarry looking toward Spring.  This photo is not dated, however, a plat map of Bluffton from 1880 shows Riley Creek and the Marsh Run, and no quarry exists. So the Buckeye was quarried after 1880.
