Bluffton Lions Club members invite Icon viewers to join in its "Burger Bash." The event is from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Sunday, May 19, at the Bluffton McDonald's.

Fifteen percent of all purchases between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. on the 19th will be donated to the Bluffton Lions Club when the customer shows a copy of the flyer in this story when making a purchase.

Friends of the Bluffton Public Library will hold their third annual golf scramble on Saturday, June 1, at the Bluffton Golf Club.

Bluffton High School students in a photography course have created photo stories this spring.

Vickie Garmon, BHS art teacher and photography course instructor, forwarded several of these completed assignments to The Icon.

The Bluffton Icon and Ada Icon were accepted into membership this week of LION Publishers (Local Independent Online News Publishers).

This is the second online association that the Icons are members. The Icons also belong to the Online News Association (ONA).

 

The following is a list of babies born at Bluffton Hospital from April 2 through April 30:

April 2 -Andrew Steven Warren Taber, son of Cassie Taber, 19 and a half inches long, 8 pounds and 10 ounces.

April 3 - Victoria Jane Herr, daughter of Mindy Herr, 19 and a half inches long, 7 pounds and 2 ounces.

April 4 - Braxton Michael Lieb, son of April and Chad Lieb, 9 pounds and 2 ounces.

The American flags are again blowing in the wind on Main Street, Bluffton.

The S.H.A.N.N.O.N. (Sharing Hopes And Nourishing Needs Of Neighbors) Service Club of Bluffton invites persons to sponsor a flag.

How about a little night music? Or, late afternoon music?

"Our spring music recitals start this Friday," said Krysti Schey of Krysti's Music Studio, Bluffton. "The recitals will showcase our student’s hard work and progress over the past few months."  

Friends and family wanting to show their support as well as anyone else interested in watching the students perform are welcome to come.

The current school year is not yet over, but physicals for Bluffton High School and Middle School athletes are underway for next school year.

Bluffton students entering seventh through ninth grade can have their sports physicals completed on Monday, May 20.

Ninth graders arrive by 4:25 p.m. 
8th grade 5 p.m. 
7th grade 5:45 p.m.  

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference recently announced the spring honorees of the HCAC All-Academic awards for the 2012-13 school year. Bluffton University had 19 spring athletes recognized for their efforts in the classroom.

Baseball along with track and field led the way for the Beavers with seven and five honorees, respectively.

The Bluffton University baseball team capped off its record-breaking 2013 season with seven Beavers earning All-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference honors for their play this season.

Kyle Niermann (Napoleon) earned his third straight First Team accolade after being named Second Team All-HCAC as a freshman. Fellow seniors Miles Richardson (Granville/Newark Catholic) and Greg Franks (Smithville) were both selected Second Team All-HCAC.
