BFR Sports & Fitness will host a vendor fair as part of the Bluffton Fall Festival on Saturday, September 27 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Home businesses and craft vendors will be included. Since only one consultant from a franchise will be accepted, it is important for vendors to register early. There is no restriction on craft vendors.

Apollo’s Academy of Medical Careers will hold an open house on Monday, July 21 from 2-6 p.m. in its new downtown location. For the next two years, The Enterprise Building at 201 W. Market Street, Lima, will be home to Apollo’s adult medical programs while the school’s main campus is under construction.

The medical community, area businesses, city, county and economic development officials, along with the community, are invited to tour the facility.

Once upon a time, a railroad hauled passengers and freight just north of the National Quarry.

The railroad, now abandoned, has a second life – this time as a walking path and bike path.

Groundbreaking occurred July 14, for the .6-mile, 8-foot wide asphalt pathway along the abandoned Akron, Canton and Youngstown Railroad, that will link the heart of the village to the high-traffic business district near the I-75 interchange.

Bluffton Community Preschool is accepting enrollment for the 2014-15 program year, according to Shelly Matijevich, director. Classes are for preschool youth ages 3 to 5. Classes are held in First United Methodist Church, 116 Church St., Bluffton.

Matijevich said that the first day of school for children are different, depending upon what day they attend school.

Monday and Wednesday students will start on Wednesday, Aug. 27. Friday students start Friday, Aug. 29. Tuesday and Thursday students start Sept. 9.

The Western Ohio Chapter of the Lincoln Highway Association will meet at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 15, at the Forest/Jackson Public Library (the train depot) located at 102 W. Lima St., Forest.

Those attending will have a home-cooked Amish dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a presentation at 7 p.m. Karen Moore will talk about “The History of Forest, Ohio, on the Lincoln Highway.”

The dinner includes salad, chicken/roast beef, mashed potatoes and gravy, vegetables, bread, pie and a drink. The cost is $15 per person. Call 419-203-5779 for a reservation.
