Bridge Bereavement Services is hosting a showing of the movie “Inside Out” on Saturday, Sept. 12, at 10:30 a.m. at the Shannon Theater, 119 S. Main St., Bluffton. This showing is the first movie in a new cinema therapy program for children and adults offered by Bridge Bereavement.

Bluffton Senior Citizen Association’s September dinner meeting is at 6 p.m., Monday, Sept. 14, at the Center, 132 N. Main St., Bluffton.

Carolyn Green is the master of ceremonies and Judy Erven and friends are the hostesses. The program is Scott Edwards, who will perform on the organ.

Tickets must be purchased by Wednesday, Sept. 9.

Two community meals are planned at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center in September. Meals are at 6 p.m. and are free and open to the public.

• Thursday, Sept. 17, meal provided by Emmanuel United Church of Christ

“The Art of Fiber,” an exhibition of work from the northwest Ohio art group Fiberforum, will kick off the 2015-16 schedule in Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery, located in the Sauder Visual Arts Center.

Opening Aug. 31, the exhibit is free and open to the public through Sept. 25. Gallery hours are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception for the artists will be held from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 13.

Former Bluffton schools superintendent, Frederick J. Bremer, 89, died at 9 a.m., Sunday, Aug. 16, 2015, at Hilty Memorial Nursing Home, Pandora.

Mr. Bremer was born July 1, 1926, in Defiance,  to John and Helen (Schuette) Bremer. They both preceded him in death.

On July 30, 1960, he married E. Marguerite (Jones) Bremer, who preceded him in death on Sept. 12, 1999.

Thomas Charles Richard, 65, died August 20, 2015 from complications stemming from esophogeal and brain cancer. He was born September 11, 1949 in Bluffton to Vernon (Bill) and Azetta (Ann) Richard.

ANDREW KLAY FOUNDRY
1887 -1925 Owner — Andrew Klay

The Andrew Klay Foundry was located on the corner of Grove and Jackson streets during the years 1887 to 1925.

The owner of the foundry was Andrew Klay, a natural-born genius with an aptitude for mechanics. The business was started as a small repair shop, but increased in size when fKlay purchased some larger equipment from another repair shop operated by Courtad and Green.

Did you ever wonder how Elbert Dubenion was recruited to play football at Bluffton College? Would you believe Leland Garmatter,  whose funeral was Aug. 24, was the reason?

For newcomers to the Icon, Dubenion was Bluffton College's greatest football player. After college he played for the Buffalo Bills.
