State Representative Bob Cupp meet constituents in Bluffton at 11:30 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, in the Bluffton Public Library second floor meeting room.

Rep. Cupp will provide a brief update on legislative activity in the Ohio General Assembly during the past several weeks – including results of the 2016-2017 State Budget process. 

He will then be available to listen to public concerns and ideas regarding pending legislation or other topics that may be of interest to attendees.

Members of the Mount Cory United Methodist Church are transforming the santuary for next week's Vacation Bible School, "Son Rise National Park."

Pre-registration will be Sunday, Aug. 2, at the Mount Cory Church, 300 N. Main, M at 6 p.m.  Bible School will run Aug 3 - 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. There will be a VBS program for the parents during the regular services on Sunday, Aug. 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church, followed by a Community Picnic at the BFLC following worship services.

• Nashville Crush Trio performs from 8-9:30 p.m.
• Fireworks at 9:30 p.m.

Bluffton's second National Night Out is from 6 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool, according to Matt Oglesbee of the Bluffton police department.

The department, in conjunction with the Pandora Police Department are in charge of the event and the Bluffton, Beaverdam and Pandora fire and EMS departments will participate.

Bluffton’s fireworks, postponed in late June due to the weather, is rescheduled for 9:30 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 4, at Bluffton’s National Night Out celebration at the Bluffton Community Swimming Pool.

The fireworks will cap off the National Night Out. The display should last between 20 and 30 minutes.

The National Night Out and fireworks will take place on Snider Road, Bluffton. Watch for a map indicating locations where people can watch the display.

Kelly E. Birchnaugh, 65, died Aug. 1, 2015, at 11:30 a.m. at his residence. Kelly was born May 13, 1950, in Bluffton to Joseph and Evelyn (Petty) Birchnaugh who preceded him in death. On July 11, 1986, he married Debra Dray Birchnaugh and she survives.

Kelly was a heavy equipment operator for Gerken Materials, Bluffton. He was a U.S. Army veteran. 

Karen Sue (Susie) Herr, 54, died at 12:20 a.m. on Aug. 1 at Richland Manor nursing home in Bluffton.

Susie was born on Dec. 11, 1960, in Bluffton, to Donald and Mary Ann (Basinger) Herr who survive. She is survived by her sister Terry Numbers of Ada and brothers Bob (Sharon) Herr of Cairo, Mardy (Lisa) Herr of Bluffton, Jim (Robin) Herr of Bluffton, and Jeremy (Tracie) Herr of McComb. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. 

Almira M. (Moser) Downey, 85, died Tuesday, July 28, 2015, at Crestwood Care Center in Shelby, Ohio. She was born Oct. 11, 1929, in Beaverdam to the late Clair and Olof (Karrick) Moser.  On May 28, 1959, she married Russell E. Downey who preceded her in death on June 21, 1990.
