First and third Mondays of June, July and August

Summer Park play dates will be held on the first and third Mondays of June, July and August at the Jenera Community Park Playground at 9:30 am.  

According to planners of the events, persons may come when you can and stay as long as you are able.  Bring your kids and grandkids of all ages and enjoy time to play outside and enjoy the summer weather.  

The kids can play with others, run around and burn off some energy while the moms, grandmas, and caregivers visit.  

Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs (BCE) will hold a reunion later this month to celebrate its more than 10 years in business, according to Paula Scott, director.

"Help us celebrate more than 10 years of business incubation and share your ideas for the next 10 years," she said. "Join us for A BCE reunion at the Mason Jar at Bluffton Golf Club, from 7-9 p.m., Thursday, June 20.

"We are reaching out to clients, donors, supporters, and participants in our Business Plan and Big Idea competitions, and will be sharing their updates with the community," said Scott.

Josh Unterbrink, co-director of Activate Allen County (right) talked about the Bluffton Pathway Project dfuring a recent Bluffton Lions meeting.

Recognition certificates and T-shirts were given to volunteers who participated in the pathway pedestrian count starting May 13 to 17.

Paws 2 Read with pet partners. Young readers are invited to the Bluffton Public Library on these Saturdays this summer to hang out and read with registered therapy dogs.

Timothy James Michel, 64, of Maysville, North Carolina and formerly of Bluffton died June 4, 2019, at Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport, North Carolina. 

Tim was born May 8, 1955, in Allen County, Ohio to the late James Michel and Wanda (Buettner) Heffner. He was married to June Downing Michel who survives in Jacksonville, North Carolina.

Tim graduated from Bluffton High School in 1973. After graduation, he drove tractor-trailer. In 1983, he joined the U.S. Marines Corp. Tim retired from active duty on May 31, 2004, and then served in the reserves until Dec. 1, 2013.

Pirates won three NWC titles in 2018-19

Columbus Grove won the Northwest Conference 2018-19 “Don Bachman Award of Excellence." 

This is the fourth time Columbus Grove has accomplished this feat since the establishment of the award in 2005.  This award recognizes the school in the conference that exhibits the highest level of consistent excellence in conference-sponsored sports and scholastic bowl competition each school year.

The Village of Bluffton will spray for misquitos on Wednesday evenings this summer, according to Jesse Blackburn, village administrator. The misquito fogger will begin at dusk. If there are high winds or rain on Wednesdays, the foggiing moves to Thursday evenings.
