NOV 5 MEDIA RELEASE__The Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) at Ohio Northern University has released the Northern Poll, a survey of Ohioans dedicated to providing cutting-edge insights on public opinion on “backyard issues.” This poll covered four zoning issues: solar farms, multi-family housing, marijuana/cannabis dispensaries, and AI/data centers.

Ian Christopher Shriner left our world far too soon on Tuesday, August 5, 2025. Born on July 31, 1983, in Durham, North Carolina, Ian grew up with a boundless love for laughter, learning, and the people around him. From a young age, he found joy in both the natural world and the camaraderie of sports.

After graduating from Cookeville High School in Tennessee, Ian went on to study Marine Biology at the University of North Carolina Wilmington (UNCW) — a place that forever held a piece of his heart.

NOV 5 MEDIA RELEASE__The United Way of Greater Lima will hold the 3rd Annual Online Auction to raise funds for the 2025 campaign.

Online bidding begins Monday, November 10th and ends on Monday, November 17.

The Ohio Department of Development and Area Agency on Aging 3 want to remind older Ohioans that assistance is available to help with their home energy bills. The Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP) helps Ohioans at or below 175% of the Federal Poverty Guidelines for a household of up to eight members and 60% of State Median Income for a household of nine or more members to pay their heating bills.

Shock rock artist Alice Cooper released a song titled Poison on July 17, 1989. The song hit #7 on the Billboard Hot 100 in the United States and #2 in the United Kingdom. Cooper was fascinated with horror movies and remembers watching them around Halloween. The horror genre influenced much of his work.

The Hancock County Board of Elections has released unofficial results for Orange Township elections. Voters approved a tax levy renewal and elected Thomas D. Wagner and Jeff Scoles as trustees.

In the November 4, 2025, Ada Exempted Village Schools election for two school board members, candidates with the most votes were Jay Salyer (456 total) and Kyle Poling (386 total) in unofficial results posted by the Hardin County Board of Elections and Hancock County Board of Elections.
