MEDIA RELEASE__Trooper Richard E. Donovan, Polygraph Unit, was promoted to the rank of sergeant on June 28 and was recognized on Sept. 14 by Colonel Charles A. Jones, Patrol superintendent, during a ceremony at the Patrol’s Training Academy. Sergeant Donovan transferred from his previous assignment in the Polygraph Unit to serve as assistant post commander at the Findlay District Investigations.
BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School girls soccer team dominated visiting Delphos Jefferson 8-0 in a Northwest Conference mismatch on Monday, September 14 at Steinmetz Field.
Seven different Pirates found the back of the net, led by two goals from Avery Boehm.
Bluffton’s goalies made five saves and the Delphos Jefferson keeper made seven stops.
The first-place Pirate girls improved to 4-4 and 3-0 in the NWC with the lopsided victory. DJ fell to 3-5 overall and 1-2 in NWC play after the defeat.

MEDIA RELEASE__Mornings with Mommy are a fun and easy way to enjoy activities with your infant through kindergarten age children (ages 0-6 years) and meet other moms. Dads, Grandmas, Grandpas, and Nannies are welcome, too.
These educational playdates will begin on September 21 and 22 and continue on the first and third Monday and Tuesday of each month from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 301 North Main Street, Jenera.
The business announced on Facebook, "While we search for someone to pass the keys to, we will still be booking sponsored events for 25 participants or more through the end of 2026.
Trinity Lutheran Church and School, 105 Allen Street, Jenera, is hosting a Chili Cook-Off on Saturday, September 26 at 5:00 p.m.
From the organizers: "Join us for some delicious chili! You can taste-test each participant's special recipe and vote for your favorite. If you wish to enter your own chili, please bring 4-6 quarts of chili to be judged."
A gift card will be awarded for the favorite chili.
Hot dogs will be served along with other side dishes and water.

In 2025, I began printing and hand-assembling monthly Icon Highlights, a collection of articles of lasting interest for distribution to locations where people can sit and read. This month, the Ada and Bluffton Highlights have moved to a new magazine binding that creates an opportunity to increase distribution.
BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School football team dominated visiting rival Allen East 35-13 in its Northwest Conference opener at Harmon Field on Friday, Sept. 11.
Pirate Blayne Hill returned the opening kickoff 78 yards all the way to paydirt to open the scoring and set the tone for the contest.
Bluffton led 14-0 after the first quarter. The Pirates stretched the lead to 21-0 midway through the second stanza and were never seriously threatened.
