June Beverly Campbell, 91, of Bluffton and formerly of Austin, Pennsylvania, died May 11, 2019, at Willow Ridge Memorial Home in Bluffton, Ohio. 

June was born on January 15, 1928, in Austin, Pennsylvania to the late Oscar and Lena (Glaspy) McMullen. June is survived by her husband of 70 years, Claude.  They were married on Sept. 18, 1948 in Austin, Pa.  Also surviving is her son Dan (Judi) of Port Allegheny, Pa., and her daughter Holly Diehl (Lon) of Fort Wayne, Ind.  June had four grandchildren, Meghan, Maureen, Matthew and Kari.  She also had eight great-grandchildren.   

Retired as a mechanic from American Electric Power

Richard L. Swisher, Sr., 84, died May 12, 2019, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. Richard was born Sept. 2, 1934, in Findlay to the late Lee and Leah (Nicholas) Swisher.  On June 30, 1956, he married Sharon Osborn Swisher who survives in Beaverdam.

Richard graduated from Findlay High School.  He retired as a mechanic from American Electric Power.  Richard was a member of the Beaverdam-Richland Fire Department and was a scoutmaster in Findlay and Beaverdam.  He also enjoyed fishing and camping with his family members.

Nicole Renee McConnahea grew up in Van Wert county, and graduated from Lincolnview High School. She got her Bachelor's in Organizational Communication, with a Marketing minor from Ball State University. She is married to Matthew McConnahea, and they have three children, ages 7, 5 and 2.

The truth behind 'natural' energy beverages

Today’s world is a busy one. Our lives are even busier. It’s natural to crave an energy boost to help you get more done. But can some energy boosts have negative health effects?

Coffee is an ever-popular go-to. Tea is big among those who don’t prefer coffee. And energy drinks have been gaining popularity for some time now. But newer to the market is the so-called “all-natural energy beverage.”

Brianna Keeler of Bluffton, is participating in a Bluffton University cross-cultural experience in Israel and Palestine during the month of May.

Keeler, along with other Bluffton students, will visit significant biblical
and historical sites and meet with Israeli and Palestinian people.

Participants focus on the geography and archaeology of the region, the
history of the land and its people, and current religious and political
conflicts in the Middle East.
