BLUFFTON __The Bluffton High School girls tennis team defeated visiting Celina 3-2 to celebrate their home opener on Monday, August 10.

The Pirate team improved to 2-0 with their second 3-2 victory. Bluffton took one singles match and swept both doubles contests to secure the win.

Pirate senior Willow Angel won at first singles 6-3, 6-1.

Senior Kate Klinger and fellow senior Ari Bowling won their first doubles match handily by a 6-1, 6-1 score. 

MEDIA RELEASE__Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO) invites the Bluffton community to enjoy an evening of live music, ice cream and fellowship at its Concert on the Lawn on Sunday, August 16, from 6–7 p.m. in the backyard of Mennonite Memorial Home, 410 W. Elm St., Bluffton.

The free outdoor concert will feature Jason Wagner with special guest Ken Pressell. Community members of all ages are welcome to attend and are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket and settle in for an evening of music alongside Mennonite Memorial Home residents, families and friends.

LIMA__The Bluffton High School girls tennis team finished a strong second at the seven-team Lima City Tournament on Saturday, August 8.

Wapakoneta captured the team championship with 30 points. The Redskins took first in four of the five bracket tournaments with undefeated records.

BOHS UPDATE__The August monthly meeting of the Bluffton Ohio Historical Society will be at the 1899 Depot (Bluffton Sportsmen's Club) at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 12.

On the agenda: reviewing the recent Bluffton History Day, the Ohio Open Doors event in September, and reports from committees, including the Capital Campaign and the October Wake the Dead motorcycle visit for the Dillinger bank robbery reenactment with Fred Steiner.

All are encouraged to "bring a friend and an artifact to share."

MEDIA RELEASE__The next Mobile Health Clinic will be held on Thu., Aug. 13 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. 

This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening).

Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.
