Saturday mornings in Bluffton will be busier starting May 7 with the opening of the Bluffton Farmers Market for the 2022 season. The market operates from 8:30 a.m. to noon in the parking lot of Citizens National Bank, 102 S. Main St. It runs from the first Saturday of May to the last Saturday of October.

The Bluffton Public Library administration and board has welcomed a new trustee, ​C​handa Smith, who is the librarian at Ada Exempted Village Schools.

Lou Ann Leiber, 82, passed away April 29, 2022, at her residence. Lou Ann was born April 7, 1940 in Toledo, Ohio, to the late Charles and Imo (Bowman) Seever. On September 27, 1958 she married Dwain Leiber who survives.

Four new employees were hired this week for the Bluffton Schools 2022-2023 academic year: (L-R) Katrina Riepenhoff will teach MS Math, Mary Glick will be the Elementary Music teacher, Missy Smith will be the Elementary Guidance counselor, and Rachel Skilliter will teach HS Math.

The Bluffton High School baseball team lost 2-6 at Spencerville in a Northwest Conference battle Thursday night, April 28.

Bluffton hosts Delphos Jefferson (4-11, 2-3 NWC) in a league makeup game Friday, then entertains Arlington (6-8) Saturday at 11 a.m.

The visiting Bluffton varsity softball team crushed Spencerville 23-4 in a Northwest Conference matchup Thursday evening, April 28.

The potent Bluffton offense cranked out a season-high 27 hits, including eight of the extra-base variety, to post the blowout win.

The Pirate girls improved to 8-5 overall and 3-1 in the NWC with the decisive victory. Streaking Bluffton has won eight of its last nine games.

The Bearcats fell to 3-12 and 0-5 in the NWC with the defeat.
