The Greg's Pharmacy manager has worked here since 1989

Deb Retterer, Greg’s Pharmacy manager and pharmacist, hangs up her white coat for the final time later this month.

Retterer of Ada, has handled pharmacy needs of Bluffton area residents since 1989 when she joined Greg Conkling in a part-time position.

“When I started in Bluffton John Skelly was also still working part-time for Greg,” she said.  “When John retired in 1992, I became full time.”

Bluffton Family Recreation doesn’t halt its programming during the holidays.

Several activities take place later this month including indoor holiday soccer tournaments, according to Joseph Beagle, BFR director. There’s still time to regular teams for the tourney.

The popular holiday tournaments takes place Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday, Dec. 17-18-21.

Here’s the schedule:
Saturday, Dec. 17 – high school boys’
Sunday, Dec. 18 – adult open
Wednesday, Dec. 21 – high school coed

Planning to cruise Bluffton to view the lights sometime in December?

Here's a helpful map. It's your guide to finding interesting residential yard displays. It's more. It also shows the location of the Gift of Giving light show and several other worthwhile light shows in town.

Persons are also encouraged walk the Main Street retail district and view the many store windows decorated for Christmas.

The map's starting point is the Bluffton Presbyterian Church lawn, which houses the Ream Holiday Folk Art display.

 

Alice Basinger, Bluffton elementary music teacher, annually directs the largest choir in the community. This year's performance is Monday at 1:30 p.m. in the Bluffton High School gym. It's the elementary Christmas concert. There will be several selections sung my all grades and they fill up the entire visitor's seating section fo the gym. Click here for Monday's program.

Give students a challenge and they'll top it

Give Bluffton middle school students a challenge and they’ll top it.

According to Robin Ault, 7th and 8th grade language arts teacher, the middle school conducted a food drive and Toys for Tots drive this month.

The middle school student senate sponsored the drives.

Food collected was donated to the Bluffton Community Assistance Program’s food pantry. Mrs. Ault said that the food drive goal was 1,500 items.The goal was topped with 1,505 items donated.

And, 79 new toys were collected for Toys for Toys.

It's the elementary Christmas concert - the program is in this story

There's "Holly, Jolly Christmas" and "Christmas at our School," sung by the mass choir of all Bluffton elementary students.

From there, you'll hear a selection of familiar and new carols performed by Kindergarteners through fifth graders.

It's at this year's Bluffton elementary Christmas concert at 1:30 p.m. (doors open at 12:30 p.m.) at the Bluffton High School gym.
