WAPAKONETA__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team lost a 1-0 defensive battle to a strong Wapakoneta squad in a non-league showdown on Tuesday night, August 18.
Wapak improved to 2-0 with the win, while the Pirate girls start out 0-1.
The Redskins scored the game’s only goal in the eighth minute. Wapakoneta freshman Maddy Herbst found the back of the net on an assist from Aubrey Prenger with 32:34 remaining in the first half.
BLUFFTON__The Bluffton boys soccer team defeated visiting Botkins 3-1 in a non-league match on Tuesday, August 18 at Steinmetz Field. The team is coached by Dan Lee.
The Pirates improved to 1-1 with the win, while the Trojans dropped o 0-1 with the defeat.
Botkins has made it to the regional semifinals in each of the last two seasons, and has compiled a 33-5-4 over the last two years.
The Bluffton goals were scored by Gavin Amstutz, Emekka Bo Smith and Chase Kelly.
Bluffton art workshop leader Hannah Warwick transformed Pandora's Nook Cafe and Bakery with a playful, kid-friendly mural using a rainforest theme. Warwick notes that it took three days to create the bold, modern leaves on a background of blue, orange and yellow.
