Bluffton Community Swimming Pool's final open date for the summer is Sunday, Aug. 23.

 

Thursday, Aug. 20, marks the 25th year anniversary of the grand opening of First National Bank’s Bluffton branch. To celebrate the anniversary the Bluffton branch will host a weeklong celebration for customers and the community starting Monday, Aug.17th.

A celebration of the 175th anniversary of the founding of the first Mennonite Church in the Bluffton-Pandora area will take place in a daylong event on Sunday, Aug. 30. Bluffton Swiss Community Historical Society is the event sponsor.

The celebration takes place at the site of the original log church, near 17876 Road 4, Pandora. The celebration will include a worship service, lectures, displays, hymns, and a traditional Swiss meal held under a large tent.

Ruth L. Fritschi, 88  died Aug.15, 2015, at Richland Manor, Bluffton. Ruth was born April 14, 1927, in Beach City, Ohio, to Swiss immigrants Arnold and Lina (Bloch) Winkelman who preceded her in death. On Nov. 13, 1955, she married Ernest Fritschi who survives.

Classes at Trinity Lutheran School, Jenera began on  Aug. 17.  The school has classes for Pre-school through Grade 8.

Valarie Tharman joins Traci Hummer (Pre-school and Kindergarten), Connie Krueger (Grades 1-2), Jeremy Dennings (Grades 5-6) and Steve Strong (Grades 7-8 and Principal) as the teacher of Grades 3-4. Valarie is a graduate of Martin Luther College, New Ulm, Minnesota.
