The second annual running (and swimming and biking) of Bluffton’s Be A Beaver Triathlon brought about 100 competitors to town on Saturday, May 30.
The participants—up in number from 64 for the event’s debut last year—started with a jump into the Bluffton Community Pool for a 400-meter swim. A 20-kilometer (12.4-mile) bike ride and a 5K (3.1-mile) run completed the triathlon, won for the second straight year by Justin Kahle, 21, of Defiance, Ohio, in a time of 58 minutes, 28 seconds.
Ann Boyd is one of the Bluffton Farmers' Market popular vendors. Boyd of Findlay owns My Own Backyard Herbs and Flowers. The market is open each Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to noon in Citizens National Bank parking lot. It is operated by the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce.
Almost 1,000 seniors from across the state are putting finishing touches on manuscripts, poems, paintings, sculptures and other works of art in preparation for the annual regional and state-wide Art and Writing Shows sponsored by LeadingAge Ohio.
The Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton, will host the Northwest Region competition on Thursday, June 18, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., which is open to the public.
Richland Manor invites the community to T200, a wellness event on Thursday, June 4 at 1 p.m. Trilogy’s Bike Tour, a group that is bike riding 200 miles through the Ohio region, will visit the Richland Manor campus and then finishing the bike tour at the Lima Springview campus.
Local venders will have booths, promoting health and playing fun games. This is a free event and open to the public.

The Bluffton Icon introduces a new page devoted entirely to Bluffton Family Recreation news. The page is a joint announcement from Joseph Beagle, BFR director, and Fred Steiner, Bluffton Icon.
The page launched in mid-May and BFR information continues to be added daily.
Icon viewers will eventually find information about all of BFR's programming. The page will also include calendar information, newsletters, flyers for all programs and information about staff.
