SPENCERVILLE__The visiting Bluffton High School baseball team rallied late but lost a 4-3 nailbiter to Northwest Conference foe Spencerville in a tight league game on Monday, May 11.

The Bearcats scored two runs in the bottom of the first inning, but Bluffton matched that with a pair of runs in the top of the second frame. 

Spencerville untied it with two runs in the home third, and neither team scored over the next three innings. Bluffton pushed one across in the seventh inning, but came up a run short.

MEDIA RELEASE__The Bluffton Center for Entrepreneurs recently hosted its annual Ropp Triplett Business Plan Competition, marking the conclusion of the six-week Small Business Academy-VIP class series presented by the Small Business Development Center at Rhodes State College.

June 12 golf outing fundraiser

FROM FACEBOOK_ Bluffton YMCA is hosting a golf outing to raise money for local youth programs for families in the Bluffton, Hardin and Lima communities.

Swing for a Cause! Tee It Up for Kids 2026 will be held at Colonial Golf Course on June 12. Those wanting to participate may register on the YMCA’s website at blufftonymca.net/tee-up-for-kids/ with a team costing $300.

BLUFFTON __The Bluffton High School baseball team was seeded seventh in its seven-team Northwest 1 Div. V sectional drawing held on Sunday. 

The Pirates (2-9-1) will visit second-seeded Blanchard Valley Conference champion Liberty-Benton (13-4) at Findlay in the sectional final round on Saturday, May 23 at 2 p.m.

The Pirate/Eagle winner will advance to the district semifinals in Bluffton on Thursday, May 28 at 4:30 p.m. The Bluffton/L-B victor will play the survivor between third seed Paulding (8-7) and sixth seed Fostoria (5-14).

FROM BPL UPDATE__Medicare 101  will be presented by the Allen County Council on Aging on Tuesday, May 19 at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level of Bluffton Public Library. Register in person or online.
