Ohioans find political incivility unacceptable but differ on optimism for the future
MEDIA RELEASE__The Institute for Civics and Public Policy (ICAPP) at Ohio Northern University has released the Spring 2026 installment of the Northern Poll, its flagship public opinion research program. This latest research focused on political civility and the personal experiences of Ohioans in a polarized climate.
FROM FACEBOOK__A new restaurant will be opening at 112 Vine St. on Wednesday, April 22 featuring new recipes from established chef-owner Jonah Agner. In the space that was home to Agner's Greenhorn restaurant, he is introducing Pizza Arcadia, "a pizza shop that rocks a sourdough-based New York-style pie along with salads, beer, wine and cocktails. We'll be adding to the menu as we go, and for now are focusing on producing a top-notch quality artisan pizza."
The new restaurant features a fresh look in the dining room, with new lighting, tables and chairs.
CAREY__The Carey High School baseball team shut out visiting Bluffton 12-0 on a rainy Friday, April 10.
The Blue Devils scored three runs in the first inning, then tallied four times in the third to build a 7-0 lead. The hosts tacked on five runs in the fourth frame to invoke the mercy/run rule.
Carey out-hit the Pirates just 5-3, but drew nine walks and stole seven bases.
Bluffton fell to 0-3 with the loss. Carey improved to 6-1 with the non-league win.
CAREY__The visiting Bluffton High School softball team lost a 17-9 non-conference slugfest to Carey on a wet Friday, April 10.
Bluffton led 3-1 after two innings, but the Blue Devils took a 4-3 lead after a three-run third. The Pirates regained the edge 5-4 with two runs in the fourth, yet Carey responded with two in the home half to take the advantage back.
Bluffton tied it 6-6 with a run in the fifth, but Carey blew it open for good with an eight-run home fifth. Each team scored three runs in the sixth frame.
