Nine rounds and 25 minutes of word spelling came down to “spoonerism.”

That reveals the level of spelling knowledge needed to compete in this year’s Bluffton Middle School Spelling Bee.

Starting with five sixth graders, five seventh graders and five eighth graders, the field reduced to two contestants after the eighth round.

A "Peanuts" Christmas theme won the Bluffton downtown merchants holiday window juding contest this year. Reichenbach and Steiner CPA, 140 N. Main St., was voted first place by other downtown merchants.  Maddison Wilson Hannah Bell, Bluffton High School students, created the window scene. 

Three Pirates were in double-figures as Bluffton's girls defeated Ft. Jennings in a non-conference game on Saturday afternoon, Dec. 6, in Bluffton.

DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Bluffton University men’s and women’s track and field team opened its 2014-15 indoor track and field season with a dual meet at Defiance College. The contest between intra-conference rivals produced a win for the men’s team, a number of HCAC conference championship qualifiers and personal-best performances.

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Bluffton University men's basketball team jumped on Thayne Recker's (Arlington) back and rode the junior post to a 74-70 win at Franklin College on Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014. The Beavers improved to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the HCAC on the strength of a career-high 33 points from Recker. Franklin stayed winless at 0-7 and 0-2 in the conference.

FRANKLIN, Ind. - The Franklin College Grizzlies used a late second half push to separate themselves from the Bluffton University women’s basketball team, earning a big 78-68 early season HCAC victory on Saturday, Dec. 6. The loss snapped Bluffton’s five-game winning streak and brought their record to 5-2 and 1-1 in Heartland Conference play. The Grizzlies improved to 4-1 and 2-0 in the HCAC.
