English Lutheran Church is offering a new Bible study, "Who Do We Say That Jesus Is? --What Jesus means to us for our lives in the 21st Century."

"In this study we will look at how Jesus has been 'pictured' and understood in the media, in the Creeds of the Church, and in the New Testament writings, trying to discover what Jesus can mean for us living in the 21st century," said Rev. Kevin Mohr, pastor.

 

Lenola R. Grismore, 101, of Pandora died June 29, 2013 at her residence. She was born near Columbus Grove Jan. 23, 1912, to Peter and Susan Diller Nusbaum. On April 4, 1936, she married Maurice M. Grismore and he preceded her in death on Sept. 5, 1977.

Mrs. Grismore was a homemaker.  She was a member of St. John Mennonite Church, Pandora, and its Sunday school and Missionary Society. She was a graduate of Columbus Grove High School and attended Bluffton College.

Rosemary "Rose" Smith, 59, of Bluffton died at 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 29, 2013 at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay. She was born on April 21, 1954 to the late Harry W. and Hildegarde (Schmogil) Klay in Bluffton. Rose married Douglas D. Smith on June 24, 1978, and he survives.

She is also survived by a brother-in-law, David (Brenda) Smith of New Albany; two nieces, Angela (Luke) Slater of Johnston, and Katrina Couch of Columbus and best friend, Sue Fett of Bluffton.

Swiss Day, an event planned by the Swiss Community Historical Society, includes a potluck and program on Sunday, June 30, at Ebenezer Mennonite Church.

The potluck is at 1 p.m. Persons attending are invited to bring ready-to-eat food and their own table service.

Bluffton's swim team is in full speed this month. On July 12-13 the Western Ohio Aquatics League meet will be at the Bluffton pool, bringing hundreds of swim fan and contestants from out of town to Bluffton.
