Pandora Missionary Church will be holding its first-ever March Mad Dash 5K & 1-mile Run/Walk on March 15, 2014. The one mile fitness run/walk starts at 9:00 a.m. and the 5K at 9:30 a.m.

“Our ultimate goal for the funds raised from this event is to bring more family-friendly, Christian-based entertainment and programming to the community. Last year, we hosted Christian music artist, J.J. Heller, in concert. We hope to continue that vision by bringing more Christian music artists, comedians, and speakers to the area,” explained Dan Gratz, coordinator of the event.

Following a 30-minute Monday night executive session to discuss personnel matters, Bluffton council accepted resignation from three village employees.

Council accepted resignations from:
• Jerry Cupples, village zoning inspector
• Chad Cupples, police officer
• Drew Probst, auxiliary police officer

Rick Skilliter, police chief, spoke following the vote to accept the resignations: “The two police resignations are unrelated to each other.”

Doris Kohli, 89, of Bluffton died Feb. 17, 2014, at 5:30 am at the Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton.  She was born Nov. 9, 1924 in Allen County to the late Robert and Reva Shaffer Martz. On March 9, 1958 she married Francis Kohli and he preceded her in death on Oct. 1, 1991.

She retired from Triplett Corporation, Bluffton. She attended Bluffton Baptist Church.  

Bluffton fire and EMS and Beaverdam-Richland Township fire departments responded to a Bluffton house fire on Bentley Road between Elm Street and Garmatter Street on Monday afternoon. Click for a video.

ArtSpace/Lima will have a two-night showing of Phil Sugden’s installation, Pages from the Manual on Dismantling God, Friday, Feb. 21 and Saturday, Feb. 22, from 6 - 9 p.m., in its Ellen Nelson Gallery.

Phil Sugden is Assistant Professor of Art at Bluffton University. His work has been exhibited in more than 90 solo and 130 group shows internationally, including galleries and museums in New York, Los Angeles, London, Paris, Washington, D.C., Melbourne, and Kathmandu.
