Want to try your hand at basket weaving? Bluffton Public Library will host a basket weaving class as part of the “DIG in DIY” Adult Summer Program Series. From 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, June 8, instructor Teresa Margraf will teach participants how to make a multi-purpose, square basket with a handle.
All necessary weaving supplies and tools will be provided. A choice of two colors will be available to weave into the pattern of the basket.
Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, 301 N. Main St., Jenera, will hold a special service on Ascension Day, Thursday, May 9, at 7 p.m. The service will celebrate Christ’s ascension into Heaven after his resurrection on Easter Sunday. Everyone is welcome and the church is handicapped accessible.
Bridge Hospice Bereavement Services will be hosting its annual bereavement camp for children, Camp S.T.A.R., June 10-12 from 8:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Park in Findlay.
Camp S.T.A.R., which stands for Special Times Always Remembered, is a three-day bereavement camp for children ages 6-12 who have experienced the loss of a loved one. Campers participate in fun, traditional camp activities combined with grief and loss education. Together, campers realize they are not alone with some of the questions and feeling they have been facing.
A Mt. Cory family of six is receiving shelter and aid from the American Red Cross of Hancock, Seneca and Wyandot counties.
The family’s home, on North Main Street in Mt. Cory, suffered major damage in a fire on the moring of Monday, May 6.
Red Cross volunteer disaster responders Holly Blaine and Ron Pahl answered the call for help and provided the family of three adults and three children with assistance for shelter and food and also gave the family members comfort kits of personal hygiene items.
