SHANNON Service Club and Senior Citizens Center launch the season

Garage sale season arrives in Bluffton this weekend.

The community hosts two giant garage sales with the SHANNON Service Club’s two-day sale and Bluffton Senior Center’s three-day sale. Here are the details:

SHANNON Service Club sale
The sale is from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday, Feb. 22, and from 9 a.m. to noon, Saturday, Feb. 23, at The Centre, 601 N. Main St., Bluffton. This is the 16th annual club sale. The sale includes dozens of tables from vendors who will offer a large assortment of items.

Terry Keiser, ONU professor, talks with Jim Elwood of Dunkirk and Charles Rodabaugh of Ada following a presentation he gave on ONU's wind and solar renewable energy programs. Keiser's presentation was at Maple Crest on Feb. 18.

13th year for Bluffton beautification project

Orders are now being placed for this summer’s downtown flowerpots.

According to Susie and Steve Stratton of Stratton Greenhouses, “This is our 13th year for providing the potted plants on Main Street.”

To make this happen Strattons invite contributions to keep the program going. This year the sponsorships, like last year, are $130 per pot. If payments are received by Friday, March 15, the cost is $125 per pot.

Franklin College defeated Bluffton University men’s and women’s basketball teams on Saturday. Here are accounts of the games.

Men’s game

The Bluffton University men dropped a tough one on the road to the Franklin College Grizzlies, 72-67, on Saturday, Feb. 16. The Beavers had three players in double figures on the day. Bluffton caps off the regular season at 17-8 overall and 11-7 in the Heartland Conference, while Franklin improved to 11-14 on the season and 9-9 in the HCAC.

A spaghetti dinner benefitting a veteran’s dinner next fall is at Pandora United Methodist Church on Saturday, Feb. 23.

Serving is from 4-6 p.m. at the church,108 E. Washington St. (State Route 12), Pandora. 

Tickets are $8 for adults 12 years old and up, $ for children under 12. Pre-sale tickets are available, call 419-384-3812, 419-722-1096, or 419-721-8154. Walk-ins are welcome.
