Red wave in village; red tsunami in township

If Ohio’s election for governor was in Bluffton was a “red wave,” it was a “red tsunami” in Richland Township. 

Since 1936 village and township voters supported Republicans for governor in each election except for two – 1936 and 2006.

Bluffton Family Recreation invites youth to its Pancakes and Pajamas warm winter fun kid's night out from 6 to 9 p.m., Friday, Dec. 14, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.

The event is for youth ages 4 to 12. Ages 3 and under are welcome if a parent or care giver stays with the youth during the event.

The evening includes a night of crafts, activities, games and pancakes. Cost is $10 for members and $20 for program participants.

Village's major road work project in 2019; ODOT will replace Jefferson Street bridge

Choice One Engineering has started the design work on the water line replacement and streetscape work planned in 2019 for Jefferson Street.

Jessie Blackburn, village administrator, updated Bluffton council on the project at Monday’s council meeting.

He said that bidding documents will be prepared for bidding to take place early next year.  Construction should begin in July.

The Jefferson Street project by the village coincides with Ohio Department of Transportation’s replacement of the Jefferson Street bridge. The bridge will be closed from April to October.

Forensic nursing program available at Bluffton Hospital

Michelle Stratton, RN and forensic nursing program coordinator at Blanchard Valley Hospital (BVH), has been named the 2018 International Association of Forensic Nurses (IAFN) Ohio Chapter Forensic Nurse of the Year.

Office will move in December to rear of 101 N. Main St.

Faith Investment Services recently celebrated its 15th anniversary as a financial firm in Bluffton. Gary Reese started in the financial services industry in 1987 and transitioned to owning his own firm in October, 2003. He has been a successful Financial Adviser with Faith Investment Services since 2003. He is registered with cfd Investments based in Kokomo, Indiana.

Todd Mason, First National Bank president and CEO, holds the sissors while Vanessa Greer cuts the ribbon. The ribbon-cutting signifies the completion of remodeling of the Bluffton FNB branch. Members of the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce hold the ribbon. The event was Nov. 16.
