Registration underway for camp July 23-27 at BFR

Bluffton Family Recreation, 215 Snider Road, will hold a Strider Bike Camp at 6 p.m. each evening from Monday to Friday, July 23-27, according to Daniel Tinch, executive director.

Registration is now underway for youth ages 2 to 5. Registration closes July 8.

“The camp develops confidence in youth bike riders in five short lessons,” said Tinch. “The camp jump starts children’s growth and development and is an excellent way to keep kids active and health.”

Board meeting also includes review of school treasurer and superintendent

Tonight’s Bluffton school board meeting agenda is filled with several actions to prepare for the 2018-19 school year.

Among those agenda items include acting on the resignation of Sarah Schulte, teacher, and offering her a one-year contract as learning disability tutor. Kerry Godsil will be offered one-year teaching contract at $39,297.

The board will act on the following proposed breakfast and lunch prices:

Bluffton council members set four council committee meetings in June and July. The schedule follows:

• Thursday, June 28 - Personnel, town hall, noon
• Thursday, July 5, - Bluffton pathway, noon, town hall
• Monday, July 9 - Council as a whole, meeting with police department, 6:30 p.m
• Monday, July 23 - Personnel and finance, to discuss possible K-9 fundraiser, 6:30 p.m.

 

Southbound lanes of I-75 between county Road 99 and U.S. 224 will be shifted

The southbound lanes of Interstate 75 between county Road 99 and U.S. 224, within the city of Findlay, will be shifted overnight Monday, July 2, into the early morning hours of Tuesday, July 3.

Both lanes of Interstate 75 southbound in that area are currently located toward the center of the highway, next the median. Monday night’s traffic shift will move them to the right, allowing traffic to travel on the two outside lanes. Access to all Findlay exits from Interstate 75 southbound will be maintained.

At Swiss Day annual meeting June 24

Judith Kingsley is the new president of the Swiss Community Historical Society. She was elected to the office during the society’s annual meeting at Swiss Day on June 24. Her term is three-years.

Other officers elected, also to three-year terms, are Gary Wetherill, vice president and John Burkhart, treasurer. Wetherill is the past president.

300 Club memberships are now available

The Bluffton Athletic Boosters are launching a new fundraiser this summer to replace the annual August booster drive. The new program also reduces the number of 50/50 raffles held at athletic events.

A letter inviting the community to become one of the first members of the club went out earlier this month from the boosters.

Club members will be eligible to win weekly and special monthly drawings held throughout the year.
