Bluffton American Legion Post has several programs planned

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 will honor veterans in several programs on Friday and Saturday.

• Cheryl Craig, Thom Craig and Larry Core will show Bluffton 4th graders how to respect and fold the American Flag  on Friday.

• The Bluffton American Legion will be giving the Americanism test to  Bluffton High School sophomores, juniors and seniors Graders on Friday morning.

• A formal ceremony will take place at 9 a.m. in the high school gymnasium.  Veterans spouses will speak about their experiences while there husbands servedIn wars.

University nutrition students preparing food; SERVE students are servers

The Bluffton University Nutrition Association (BUNA) will hold its annual Harvest Dinner, benefiting the Bluffton Community Assistance Corporation and the Churches United Pantry in Lima, from 5-8 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 17, at the Bluffton Middle School cafeteria, 102 S. Jackson St., Bluffton.

Dr. Leah Eiden's office opens at 161 Garau St.

Blanchard Valley Medical Practices, a division of Blanchard Valley Health System will open its new office, Bluffton Primary Care, 161 Garau St., on Monday, Nov. 13.

Renovations to the building are finishing this week.

Volunteers needed for event on Nov. 23 at Civic Center, LIma

As Thanksgiving approaches, Lewis Family McDonald’s is finishing its preparations for its annual Thanksgiving Day Dinner.

The dinner, originally started in 1989 by the Chester Carey Family, is now in its 13th year under the Lewis Family. The dinner will be held on Thursday, Nov. 23, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lima Veteran’s Memorial Civic and Convention Center.

The Icon caught up with Bowen Hochstetler while he went to the polls on Tuesday (see next photo). Bowen, 3, may not have whispered in his dad's ear on how to vote, but his dad gave him the I voted today sticker. Bowen is the son of Tyler and Jade Hochstetler.

All-HCAC release

BLUFFTON, Ohio - Bluffton University defender Brittany Huff (Union/Northmont) was named Second Team All-Heartland Conference for her work on the pitch in 2017. Securing honorable mention acclaim was junior Skylar Liming (St Marys/Memorial). They were both recognized when the HCAC announced its top players this season as voted on by all of the head coaches.
