New Leaf Landscape and Garden Center, 0395 State Route 235, Ada, will hold its Christmas open house from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 11.

The open house will offer specials, gift certificate give-aways and lots of Christmas decorates and greenery.

Prior to 1897 Bluffton residents' water came from wells. The town-wide water system developed shortly after that.

Here is one of the most unusual photos of Bluffton you will ever see. It's a test of water pressure in 1897 or 1898. The test occurred during the opening of the Bluffton water plant. It demonstrated that the pressure enabled water to shoot higher than Main Street buildings, a plus for the fire department.

Bluffton University’s Grace Albrecht Gallery will host “Eclectic Works on Paper” by Dexter Davis.

Opening Nov. 12, the exhibit is free and open to the public through Dec. 15. Gallery hours in the Sauder Visual Arts Center are 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. weekdays and 1-5 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays. A reception for the artist will be from 1-3 p.m. on opening day, Sunday, Nov. 12. 

This show of powerful, expressive images with African-American influences is a collection of works by the Cleveland-based artist. 

Bridge Hospice holiday workshop

Bridge Hospice Bereavement Services will be offering a holiday memories wreath making workshop in both Findlay and Bowling Green.

The Findlay event will be held Tuesday, Nov. 28, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at the Brugeman Lodge at Riverbend Park, 16618 Township Road 208, Findlay.

The Bowling Green event will be held Wednesday, Nov. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Bowling Green Park Scout Building, 520 Conneaut Avenue, Bowling Green.

Wreath making is scheduled in half hour increments during event times.

The Jerry Szabo Trio, of Jerry Szabo (drums), Dean Alstaetter (piano) and Dave Sycks (horn), entertained the Dare to Dream fundraiser at Sycamore Lake, rural Columbus Grove.
