Teenagers interested in volunteering this school year at the Bluffton Public Library are invited to an information meeting after school on Monday. The meeting is at 3:30 p.m. in the library.
The first of six Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) classes in October is set for Monday at the Bluffton Senior Citizens Center. The class is free and open to the public. Here are the other OVAL classes this month, according to Tonya Meyer, director,
• Thursday, Oct. 5 – A trip to historic Roscoe Village, Coshocton. Bus leaves Bluffton at 7:15 a.m.
• Thursday, Oct. 12 – 11 a.m. – Jonah Agner, The Food Store, presents a healthy fall cooking food demonstration
• Thursday, Oct. 19 and 26 – 9:30 a.m. – John Rich presents a bread baking class
Kala Jilani-Pritchett, a Blufton University psychology major from Dayton, took part in an experience this summer that offered insight into her future.
Jilani-Pritchett, alongside other college students from across the country, spent a month at Harvard Medical School exploring the areas of neuroscience and neuropsychology, sciences involving the study of the brain.
“I ran across this program, and it was exactly what I wanted to do,” she said. “It opened a door that I didn’t know I could open.”
Craig Arnold Walls, 47, died on Friday, Sept. 29, 2017, at 6:10 p.m. in his sister and brother-in-law's home. He had battled over five years with a brain tumor. Craig was born April 18, 1970, in Lima to Jack and Gloria (Jones) Walls who preceded him in death.
Craig was a 1988 graduate of Columbus Grove High School where he played football and ran track. He had been the owner/operator of the Artillery Shed in Lima, was a construction worker, salesman, handyman, musician, and personal trainer and weight lifter.
Roland Eugene Snare died at 2:55 p.m. Sept. 29, 2017, at the Bluffton Hospital. Roland Eugene “Gene” Snare was born March 12, 1925, to Roland D. and Carey (Harding) Snare who preceded him in death.
Gene graduated from Ada High School in 1943 and enlisted in the Army where he served from 1943 - 1946 in the Asiatic Pacific - Philippines. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #382 - Bluffton.
Marylin J. Basinger, 75, of Bluffton died Oct. 1, 2017, at the Bluffton Hospital Emergency Room. Arrangements are incomplete at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.
