BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Beavers wrapped up day one of the Bluffton Sommer Spiketacular with a 1-1 mark. The Bluffton volleyball team picked up an impressive win over Adrian College in three sets (27-25, 25-20, 25-20). Junior Bethany Martini (Pickerington/North) led the team with 16 kills and she also chipped in 11 digs.

Will be open for lunches and special theme night

Jeanne’s Kitchen, the popular Vine Street Bluffton restaurant owned by Jeanne Previte, will reopen next weekend, according to Heather Cox, who will manage the restaurant.

“We are reopening with a special Italian night from 5 to 7:30 p.m., Friday, Sept. 8,” she said. “We’d recommend our patrons to make reservations for our opening night by calling 419-234-8650.”

Joining the staff is Cory-Rawson High School graduate Jamison Businger as chef. Dennis Allbrooke will handle the restaurant’s pastry creations.

Bluffton Paving is involved in pavement repair and resurfacing of State Route 235 between U.S. 30 and Hardin County Road 304 this week and next. Traffic is now reduced to one lane through a work zone.The one-lane means traffic stands still in one direction, while traffic from the other direction moves.

From June's 8th annual charitable golf scramble

Bluffton American Legion Post 382 distributed $7,400 from proceeds of its 8th annual charitable golf scramble to 14 organizations earlier this week.

Recipients were:

Don and Jodi Brauen will host a fall open house for Brauen's Gourds on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 2 and 3.

The open house is at their farm at 7140 Tom Fett Road, Bluffton. Hours are:
• Saturday, Sept. 2 - 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Sunday, Sept. 3 - 1 to 4 p.m.

 

The Hardin County Sheriff’s office is currently investigating a multiple vehicle crash that occurred at 8:04 a.m. at County Road 110 and Township Road 205 in Goshen Township of Hardin County.

A southbound vehicle on Township Road 205 occupied by five juveniles failed to yield at a stop sign and was struck by a vehicle headed eastbound on County Road 110.

Three of the five juveniles were lifeflighted to St. Vincent’s Hospital in Toledo with life-threatening injuries.
