Our Solar System is a program for all ages on Aug. 15 at 10:30 a.m. in the lower level of the library. Mr. George will be sharing how our solar system works through a variety of fun, interactive learning experiences. Please register soon - space is limited.
This program is designed for age 4th grade through adult. Younger children may register, but must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

The Main and College crosswalk improvement project continues this week. The project involves designating a crosswalk on the north side of the intersection.
That crosswalk includes a button for pedestrians to push when wanting to cross the street. The button turns on a flashing beacon informing traffic that someone is crossing the street.

The project also removes the crosswalk on the south side of the intersection.
Although cows, goats, and chickens take center stage at the Ohio State Fair’s livestock competitions, a creature from the depths of the ocean has stolen the show at this year’s Fine Arts Exhibition.
Judith Greavu, local artist, received the 2017 Peoples’ Choice Award for her recycled copper and fused glass sculpture, titled Squid: A Celebration. The award is an annual prize sponsored by the Ohio Arts Council that is given to the piece that receives the most votes from the public.
FROM ADA ICON - It’s a heavenly weekend for garage sale buyers and sellers.
It’s Main Street Across America’s Lincoln Highway Buy Way Yard Sale Thursday, Friday and Saturday, Aug. 10-11-12, and Ada is getting ready for a flood of buyers.
The annual event in Ada is sponsored by the Ada Community Improvement Corp. (CIC), which is a member of the Lincoln Highway Association, and the Ada Area Chamber of Commerce.
A map of Ada garage sales will be posted soon on the Bluffton Icon. The map will list sales in the village and in the surrounding countryside.
Several youth opportunities are available in August at Bluffton Family Recreation.
U6 soccer
Open to boys and girls 6 and under, registration ends on Aug. 13. Cost is $45 for members and $60 for non-members. All games are played from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays from Aug. 22 to Sept. 28 at BFR, 215 Snider Road, Bluffton.
Youth flag football
Open to youth ages 7 to 10, registration ends Aug. 13. All games played at 9 a.m. on Saturdays from Aug. 21 to Sept. 30 at BFR. Cost is $50 for members and $60 for non-members.
