Candace Downing, a Columbus Grove High School senior, is the recipient of the 2017 Barbara Fleming Memorial Nursing Scholarship. The scholarship is sponsored by Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio (MHCO), of Bluffton and Pandora.
Downing plans to attend Wright State University in the fall, where she will enroll in its nursing program. Her parents are Craig and Lynn Downing of Columbus Grove.
Area women are invited to a Tea Party from 9:30-11 a.m. on Friday, May 26, at The Lion and Lamb Peace Arts Center located on the campus of Bluffton University.
The tea will provide an informal setting for friendship and interaction between women from other countries now living in Bluffton and local women. Tea and coffee will be provided, and guests are invited to bring a dish to share.
Rebecca J. (Lehman) McClelland died May 18, 2017, in her home. She was born Aug. 7, 1948, to Richard and Gretchen (Sprunger) Lehman.
She is survived by children: Debra (Howie Welty) Wentz, Steve (Cindy) Blaski, Michelle (Steve) Logan, Jim (Valvette) McClelland, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are siblings: Nancy (John) Turner, Jennifer (Bill) Davis, Tom (Barb) Lehman and Tony (Connie) Lehman.
In lieu of flowers, Becky’s family asks that you make donations to the Armes Family Cancer Care Center of Findlay or to Bridge Hospice.

Jerry says that although earlier this month the ground temperature hit around 29 degrees he’s confident that strawberries will be at the red Suter Produce stands by early June.
