At March 13 Senior Citizen Association monthly dinner meeting

The Daughter of Hope Dance Troupe will perform during the Monday, March 13, Bluffton Senior Citizens Association monthly dinner meeting.

The meeting is a noon at the center, 132 N. Main St., Bluffton. The troupe is made up of home school youth.

Herman Hilty and Robert Bowersox will both turn 90 in March and will received their life membership award to the association.

The following Our Version of Adult Learning (OVAL) programs are planned in March, with each program at 9:30 a.m.:

PrimeTimers will meet at noon, Tuesday, March 7.

PrimeTimers is a non-denominational, community fellowship gathering for adults 55 and over hosted at St. John Mennonite Church, 15988 Road 4, Pandora.

This event will feature the music of Ken Cartier. The meal will include: Baked Ham, Scalloped Potatoes, Green Beans, Caesar Salad, Mint Brownies, Dinner Rolls and Coffee.

There is no cost for the event, but donations are accepted. For more info, please call Mennonite Memorial Home,  419-358-1015, ext. 102.

 

John “Jack” Newton Shoupe, 83, died Feb. 21, 2017, at Mennonite Memorial Home in Bluffton. John was born July 13, 1933, in Findlay to Roscoe and Helen (Kelchner) Shoupe, who preceded him in death. On March 4, 1962, he married Louise (Herr) Shoupe who survives.

Jack was an Air Force veteran during the Korean Conflict. He worked for Meadow Gold Dairy as a salesman until his retirement.

All conference honors to Alivia Koenig, Abbie Parkins, Averey Rumer

Three members of the Bluffton High School girls' basketball team received all-NWC honors in voting by coaches. In addition, Bluffton was conference runner-up at 7-1.

Pirate honors to:
First team - Alivia Koenig, sophomore
   (repeat first team from last season)
Second team - Abbie Parkins, senior
Honorable mention - Avery Rumer, sophomore

Columbus Grove junior post player Paige Bellman was selected as the 2016-17 NWC Player of the Year.

All-Heartland Conference

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A pair of first place showings in field events on Saturday, Feb. 18 nailed down First Team All-Heartland Conference honors for juniors D'Nae Reese (Columbus/Upper Arlington) and Willow Thompson (Arlington). They joined Kyle Knezovich (Utica) from the men's side, giving the Beavers three gold finishes at the 2017 Heartland Conference Indoor Track and Field Championships!
