University dietetics program partners with The Food Store

Each year, Bluffton University food and nutrition majors are asked to think outside of the recipe card to develop nutritious meals for Lunch and Learn.

The healthy-eating series, which is open to the community, includes a 20-30 minute cooking demonstration, nutritional information and a full meal. This year, the students are getting some extra help thanks to a sponsorship from The Food Store, located on Main Street in Bluffton.

However, adult volleyball still on the schedule

Bluffton Family Recreation will cancel the following programs for Thursday, Feb. 9, according to Joseph Beagle, director.

•  K-3 basketball from 3:30-4:30 p.m.
• HS boys indoor soccer leagues
• Children's swim lessons (held at the Comfort Inn).

However, adult volleyball will take place.

Due to construction the Riley Street bridge between Spring and Garmatter streets will be closed from 1 to 6 p.m. today, (Thursday, Feb. 9).

We'll remember the winter of 2016-17 as extra mild - and we'll take that.

Concerning snow photos, until last night, this winter's become a dud. By mid-February in winter's past snow photos are a dime a dozen.

Not so this year.

With that in mind, we offer viewers a long winter's night of snow photos - finally.

Please enjoy these photos before the snow melts this weekend.

Community collection dates: March 2, April 6, May 11

Two Bluffton school collection drives take place this spring and community members are invited to participate.

An American Red Cross blood drive is Tuesday, May 9.
