Friday was Pirate Day in Bluffton. Jadyn Barhorst, Bluffton HS senior, was among the many pirates watching the BHS homecoming parade on Friday evening. When Jadyn is not dressed as a pirate she's the goalie for the girls' soccer team. More photos of the parade are in the story below.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Bluffton University men's soccer team hosted Finlandia University for a rare Sunday contest at the Sears Complex on a warm September afternoon. The visiting Lions found the back of the net just over a minute into the contest en route to a convincing 5-0 victory. Bluffton slipped to 3-5 on the season, while Finlandia improved to 2-6 as they head back to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan.

Abbie Parkins reigned as queen and Gabe Denecker as king of the 2016 Bluffton High School homecoming. The queen-king announcement made in a pre-game Harmon Field ceremony Friday night followed a long homecoming tradition at BHS.

Senior court members also included Sierra Ribley, Kristen Yost, Trevor Bunch and Levi Mikesell. Underclassmen on the court were juniors: Kelli Leugers and Hunter Busch; sophomores Amelia Mitchell and Logan Rhodes; and freshmen Kayla White and Nephi Peralta.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - A pair of Grant Stutzman (Sugarcreek/Hiland) tallies separated by less than three minutes proved to be all Bluffton would need as the Beavers defeated Ohio Christian 2-1 on a beautiful Saturday, Sept. 24. It marked the first home win by the men since Oct. 29, 2014 when Bluffton defeated Mount St. Joseph, 3-2, at the Sears Complex. The Beavers improved to 3-4 on the season, while OCU dropped to 2-6 overall.

HANOVER, Ind. - Less than 12 hours after matches finished on Friday night, teams were in the gym ready to go for day two of the annual HCAC/OAC Crossover. Bluffton was up in the first round of matches to face the Capital Crusaders who they just went five sets with last weekend in Wooster.
