FROM ADA ICON - On Tuesday morning, The Icon, heading east on Lima Avenue near Ohio Northern University, spotted a deer family traveling from the south side of the avenue to the north side and toward the woods on campus.

In addition to the deer, a flock of Canada geese stood ready to fend off anyone who came too close.

After stopping to watch, the Icon took the following photos of the deer crossing the street.

We've enhanced some of the photos to viewers can see the deer outlines - because we were shooting into the sun.

We know that you've watched these eyes from your car or as you walked up Main Street. This view is a close-up of the mural underway on the former Groves' Bear building. It is a project of Sarah Hartzler, Bath High School art teacher, along with some of her students. Below you'll find the latest update of the mural.

"The Friends of the Library are planning the fall book sale and we need books!" Sallie Jones of the Friends told The Icon.

Q: What type of books?
A: Histories, mysteries, novels any or current books.

She asks that persons do not donate text books or encyclopedias. Proceeds ffom the book sale provides programs and projects for the library.

Last year the Friends' projects enable the library to purchase a new overhead projector system.

Books for future book sales may be dropped off at the library, 154 S. Main St., Bluffton.

$26 puts the current United Way campaign on top.

Who will make the donation putting the campaign at 100 percent?

Neil Reichenbach, Bluffton-Beaveram-Richland Township United Way treasurer, told The Icon the good news about how close the United Way is to reaching its $25,000 goal.

And, there's still time to buy 50/50 tickets.

"We want to thank everyone who has purchased 50/50 tickets. The prize money is $208. If you would still like to purchase 50/50 tickets you can still do so  Saturday, July 23, or Saturday, July 30 at the Farmers' Market downtown," he said.
