Along with warm spring weather comes many flowering plants. Among them are dandelions, which made a serious appearance in Bluffton this week.

Cash awards of $6,000 were presented to Bluffton Center for Entrepreneur business plan competition winners this spring, according to Brendon Matthews, BCE board president.

Prize money and gifts-in-kind went to five competitors. Winners were announced at BCE’s business expo at The Centre, Bluffton, in late March.

For Jodi Turnwald nothing is more satisfying than watching someone who can hear for the first time.

“It’s so powerful,” she said.

Turnwald is now helping Bluffton area residents hear better. She opened Bluffton’s newest business, Bluffton Hearing Center, in late March at 900 N. Main St., Suite B.

BLUFFTON, Ohio -  Bluffton's Terrill Webb (Kenton) shattered her own school record by a foot in the pole vault at the All-Ohio Championships Saturday and has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women’s Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week. It marks the second straight week that a Beaver has captured the women's HCAC Field Athlete of the Week honor following D'Nae Reese (Columbus, Ohio/Upper Arlington) who broke school records in the shot and discus at the Marv Frye Invitational.

Panel to discuss impact of urban sprawl

The Christian Values in the Global Community class taught by Dr. Perry Bush, professor of history, will host a panel discussion on urban sprawl in Allen County from 6:30-7:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 20. The event is free and open to the public. It will take place in Yoder Hall. 

The panel will include Allen County Commissioner Cory Noonan, Allen County Engineer Brion Rhodes and President/CEO of Allen Economic Development Group Jeff Sprague.

BLUFFTON, Ohio - The Rose-Hulman Insititute of Technology stayed atop the Heartland Conference standings by finishing a sweep of the Bluffton University Beavers, 10-5, on Sunday, April 17. The victory improves the Engineers to 19-7 overall and 11-3 in conference play, while the Beavers dropped to 9-19 overall and 4-11 in HCAC action.
