Greg Denecker, Bluffton superintendent sent The Icon the following reminder about the Bluffton school day on Wednesday, Dec. 5: 2 Hour Delay for Staff Development on Formative Instructional Practices.

A spaghetti dinner to benefit the adoption efforts of Brandon and Amy Mayden is being held from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 11 at The Centre.  The Centre is located at 601 N. Main St. in Bluffton.

Tickets are available for purchase at Greg's Pharmacy, Anderson Tractor Supply or at the door on the night of the event.

The Bluffton American Legion Post 382 presented awards on Monday Dec. 3 to six Bluffton High School students for their participation in an annual test about Americanism.   Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors were eligible to take the test. 

The Americanism and Government Test Program is an opportunity for the high school student to evaluate him or herself in American government and history through this statewide test program. Over 90,000 students participate annually in this project.

Note: Derek Woods, Bluffton University student and Icon intern, recently played in his final-ever college football game. Derek is a Broadcasting and Journalism Major from Springfield,  and was starting safety for the Bluffton University football team. We invited him to write a reflection on his football career.

Town and Country Flowers won second place in the Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce downtown holiday window decorating contest. Here's a look at the window. First place is Citizens National Bank and third place is The Curling Icon.

"Christmas at the Farm" will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 15 at the Hardin Historic Village and Farm, located on Fairground Road in Kenton, according to Linda Iams, Director.

Activities include sleigh rides by the Black Swamp Buggy Club, a performance by the Peaceful Strings Dulcimers, an appearance by Santa and plenty of refreshments.
