The Bluffton Area Chamber of Commerce has announced the following schedule for the Blaze of Lights festival on Saturday, November 27, 2021.

All Day Shop Small Saturday

4 p.m. Parade line up. Entries accepted until Saturday morning

5 p.m. Parade starts at Community Pool, 205 Snider Rd. and ends at College Ave. and Main.

With Bluffton’s 35th annual Blaze of Lights celebrations coming up on Saturday, November 27, 2021, the Bluffton Icon will feature a series of “About about that Blaze” articles, beginning with the Blaze Parade.

Coordinator Junior Weihrauch will continue to accept entries through Saturday morning, November 27. Registered entries to date include the Bluffton High School marching band, baton corps, floats, and fire and EMS departments from Bluffton and the surrounding area. 

Vaccine and booster providers within 10 miles of Bluffton

On November 18, the Allen County Combined Health district announced that COVID-19 cases are rising significantly.

As of Thursday (11/18/21) the 14-day case rate was 976.1, the highest case rate for Allen County since December of 2020. On November 11 the rate was 794.3. The rate of 976.1 cases per 100,000 residents in the past 14 days is almost 10 times the rate considered to be an area of high transmission.

Winners of the 2021 Bluffton Lions Club annual Peace Poster contest were recognized in a club meeting on Tuesday, November 16. Winners were given certificates and small cash awards by club president Patty Navin. Each winner explained her poster to the club.

The first place winner is Nora Matthews, daughter of Brendon and Rene Mattthews. Her poster will be considered along with winners sponsored by other Lions clubs in northwest Ohio. The district winner will advance to the state level. The poster contest extends to the international level with participants from many countries.

From 9-11 a.m. on Friday, November 19, the Bluffton Public Library will host the ONU mobile health clinic. All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program.

This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, osteoporosis, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening).

Participants may speak with ONU Healthwise students and staff about their results or concerns, and even receive referrals to area doctors.
