Did you ever hear the story about Bert Swank and George Klay testing Triplett meters by submerging them in the Buckeye in the mid-1940s?

Here's an excerpt from the 1940-49 chapter of "A Good Place To Miss - Bluffton Stories 1900-1975."

Following are excerpts from The Tripletter, the Triplet Meter Company publication. The first is a front-page story from April 1945.

Bluffton ladder truck

The Bluffton Fire Department will hold an open house to coincide with National Fire Prevention Week, according to Jon Kinn, fire chief. The open house will be held Saturday, Oct. 15 at the fire station, 402 N. Main St.

The fire department will perform demonstrations from 10 a.m. to noon and from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m.

Demonstrations will include Jaws of Life extrication, use of fire extinguishers, and what to do in the event of a grease fire.
