After a two year wait, the Swiss Community Historical Society is inviting members to the annual Swiss Day at 12:30 p.m. on Sunday June 19 at the Ebenezer Mennonite Church.

Individuals can renew their membership or join the society at the meeting.

There will be a carry-in meal and annual business meeting. Attendees should bring their own meal service and food to share. (This is different from past years, when one cold and one hot dish was requested.)

The invitation reads: "Everyone is invited, young and old! Enjoy an old fashioned pot-luck style meal."

At the June 13, 2022 council meeting the following May activity summary was submitted by the Bluffton Police Department.

With thunderstorms expected and the air thick with humidity, the Bluffton Sardines hosted the Kenton Stingrays in Western Ohio Aquatics League (WOAL) competition on Monday, June 13 at the Bluffton Community Pool, 205 Snider Rd.

Bluffton won the home meet 896-293 and is scheduled to host Van Wert at home on Thursday, June 16.

Riley St. conditional use hearing set, pathway board members appointed

The Village of Bluffton held a regular Council meeting on June 13 with all members present. The meeting was conducted by Mayor Richard Johnson. The minutes of May 23 and bill payment were passed unanimously, as were all other actions.

The following summary includes committee and department reports, as well as the scheduling of upcoming meetings. The full agenda and packet is attached HERE.

Gawkers and window shoppers are welcome at the June 17 Festival of Wheels hosted by the Bluffton LIons Club. Registration is 2-5:00 p.m. The festival ends with a car cruise down S. Main at 8:00 p.m.

The Findlay Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating an injury airplane crash that occurred on June 13, 2022 at approximately 5:15 p.m. The crash occurred in a field south of the Bluffton Airport. 

Robert S. Searfoss, age 48, of New Bavaria Ohio, was flying a 1968Cessna 172 when he lost control of the air craft crashing into a field.The air craft struck nose first and flipped over. Mr. Searfoss suffered serious injuries and was flown to St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Toledo Ohio. Mr. Searfoss was using his safety belt.
