Note: This column is in two parts. It follows three children whose parents were Johannes and Magdalena Amstutz Sommer. These three children came to America.

This column’s focus is Johannes and Magdalena’s son, Abraham and his wife, Anna Gerber Sommer.

A second column's focus on Jacob and Marianna Amstutz, and Jacob’s second wife, Lydia Amstutz.

Funeral arrangements incomplete for Ronald Lehman

Ronald D. Lehman, 74, of Rawson died April 28, 2021, at the Bridge Hospice Care Center, Findlay.  Arrangements are pending at Chiles-Laman Funeral & Cremation Services, Bluffton.

Pirate boys cruise to track tri-meet win

Bluffton competes at Liberty Benton Invitational this weekend

ADA - The Bluffton boys handily won a triangular track and field meet with host Ada and Ft. Jennings Tuesday evening at warm and windy War Memorial Stadium.

Bluffton won the boys meet easily with 104.5 points. Ada was a distant second with 36, followed by FJ in third at 28.5.

Ada captured first in the girls meet with 73.5 points. Bluffton was second (57.5) and Ft. Jennings came in third (39).

Mobile health clinic Friday at the library

Bluffton Public Library will host a mobile health clinic on Friday, April 30, from 9:30-11:30 a.m.

All services are provided by individuals with the Ohio Northern University Healthwise program. The Mobile Health Clinic bus is usually parked in front of the library on Main Street during visits.

This clinic includes free screenings for blood pressure, blood sugar, and cholesterol (please fast for 12 hours to participate in cholesterol or blood sugar screening).

Cory-Rawson stops Pirates

Pirate freshman Garret Bogart collected 3 hits and 2 runs batted in. Braeden Jordan scored two runs and had 2 hits.

BLUFFTON - Bluffton's scheduled non-conference softball game vs. Cory-Rawson was postponed Tuesday evening. 

Low Hornet roster numbers due to injury and illness caused the cancellation, and the game will not be made up.

Bluffton (3-10, 2-4 Northwest Conference) resumes league play Thursday at Columbus Grove (8-7, 1-3 NWC). Grove crushed Continental 17-1 Tuesday evening.

The Pirate girls then host future NWC member Leipsic (7-5) Friday, April 30 and visit Arlington (3-9) for a non-league doubleheader Saturday, May 1.
