Here's the fall festival schedule at Swiss Homestead on Saturday
The annual Swiss Community Historical Society Fall Festival at the Homestead will be held on Saturday, September 27 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 8350 Bixel Road.
The restored Schumacher House, 1840’s garden, barn, workshop, and summer kitchen will all be open for self-guided tours. Demonstrations of 19th-century handcrafts, horse plowing, hand milking, and other activities will be offered all day. Musical groups will perform and soup, bread, cheese, cider and popcorn will be available for a donation.
Children’s activities will include a straw bale maze, petting zoo, fishing in the creek, period games, a slingshot range, and horse-drawn wagon rides. A new feature this year will be a role-playing activity for children – become a person from the past!
