Teachers seeking to advance their career can fast-track their plans by enrolling in a Master of Arts in Education program this summer at Bluffton University.

Classes begin June 12 for MAEd concentrations in reading endorsement (K-12), intervention specialist (K-12) and leadership. New this year is a faith-based concentration with classes starting a week earlier on June 5. A second summer session begins July 3.
 
“Bluffton’s data-informed program is taught by faculty who have classroom experience. We understand how to combine the technical nature of your career while putting people first,” said Dr. Gayle Trollinger, professor of education and director of graduate programs in education.
 
Bluffton is committed to offering master’s degrees in a cost-effective and convenient way. All classes in the program are offered either online or through video-conference technology, meaning all MAEd students have access to Bluffton’s resources no matter where they are.
 
The MAEd program has several start dates each year, giving working professionals the flexibility to determine when they are able to take on extra coursework. Bluffton is also part of the State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement, a national initiative which makes distance-education courses accessible to students across state lines.
 
“Because of this, we can offer graduate classes for teachers outside of Ohio, and since we use Zoom technology, teachers can join us from Pennsylvania, Indiana or wherever they live,” said Dr. Gayle Trollinger, director of graduate programs in education and professor of education.
 
Along with giving teachers extra knowledge and tools to use in the classroom, earning an MAEd can be financially beneficial. According to the Digest of Education Statistics, on average, teachers with a master’s degree make an extra $10,000 extra each year compared to teachers with a bachelor’s degree alone.
