Three Bluffton University students, who spent the fall semester in Washington, D.C., will report on their experiences during an 11 a.m. Forum on Tuesday, Jan. 29, in Yoder Recital Hall.
The students, who participated in the Washington Community Scholars’ Center program, had the opportunity to live and learn with peers from other universities while taking classes administered by Eastern Mennonite University faculty. Participants also completed a 20-hour-per-week internship in a field of their interest or major.
The Bluffton HS girls' basketball team defeated Spencerville tonight 44-43. The Pirates are now the only undefeated team in the NWC. The Lady Pirates move to an 11-3 record and 5-0 in the Northwest Conference.
The Lady Bearcats drop to 3-1 in the Northwest Conference and 10-3 on the season.
When they accepted jobs at Mennonite Memorial Home, neither Rodney Dyck, nor Sue Richard anticipated that they would still be at MMH four decades later! Richards recently celebrated her 40th anniversary as an employee of Mennonite Home Communities of Ohio, while Dyck had that honor in 2017.
Working in two different departments, the long-term employees have similar feelings about working at MMH … Do a good job. Get to know and understand the residents, and be willing to change to meet the needs of the organization.
When Bluffton businesses battle the Community Assistance Program wins. In the recent battle of the businesses held at Southgate Lanes $2,400 was raised as a donation to the program's food pantry. A Vaughnsville man with a Bluffton connection is the Bluffton Police Department’s 2018 Citizen of the Year.
The honor goes to Kenneth Dotson, coincidentally the father of Tom Dotson, who owns Tommy Tire. Kenneth Dotson works at Tommy Tire. He was recognized during the Jan. 14 Bluffton council meeting.
Here’s the circumstances surrounding the award:
On Nov. 8 Kenneth Dotson and his wife, Rebecca, were southbound on Interstate 75 near mile marker 138 when they witnessed a two-vehicle accident on the Interstate.
