Robert Pyzik was an industrial engineer

LIVONIA, Mich.­­—On November 10, 2023, Robert Henry Pyzik passed away at the age of 92 years. Robert is lovingly remembered by his children, Christopher (Tina) Pyzik, Robin (John Shuler) Pyzik-Shuler, Paula (Robert) Scott, and Sarah (Robert) Dotto; grandchildren, Aaron (Hershey Cohen) Shuler, Clara Shuler, Nathaniel and Noah Pyzik, Katherine and Duncan Scott, and Taylor and Lauren Dotto, and by his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Richard and Barbara Bonk, and Mary Ann Coopersmith. Preceding him in death were wife Dorothy (Connie Bonk) Pyzik, parents Joseph and Tillie (Baron) Pyzik and brothers Henry, Raymond, Arthur and Eugene Pyzik and sister-in-law, Gertrude Bonk.

Robert was born in Detroit on January 20, 1931 and graduated from Chadsey High School. He and Connie were married on June 27, 1953. An industrial engineer, Robert graduated from Michigan State College in 1953. He received a commission in the U.S. Air Force with the rank of second lieutenant and served two years on active duty at Wright Patterson Air Force Base.

Engineering work took Bob and Connie to Spring Lake and Saginaw, MI, Terre Haute, IN, and finally to Livonia, MI. His employers included Massey Ferguson and Williams International.

Robert loved to be outdoors, active and making or fixing things. He grew up camping at Wampler’s Lake and would lead his family on many camping adventures across the U.S. and Canada. He was an avid runner and swimmer. His numerous hobbies included gardening, reading, studying languages, painting, upholstery and carpentry. He taught his children how to be DIYers as well. With Connie, he was a regular orchestra, opera, theater and museum-goer.

A private memorial will be held at a future date. His inurnment will be at St. Hedwig Cemetery, 23755 Military Rd. in Dearborn Heights. In lieu of flowers, donations in Robert’s memory may be made to Doctors Without Borders.
