BLUFFTON__The Bluffton High School boys golf team finished a close third in a Northwest Conference quadrangular match at the Bluffton Golf Club course on Tuesday, September 1.
Gibson Meyer of Bluffton finished second in the field of 23 players by firing a round of 41. He came in one stroke behind match medalist Seth Brandt of Lincolnview, who carded a 40.
Pirate Coby Dailey ended up right behind Meyer with a 42. Ethan Fifer carded a 45. Owen Brauen posted a 50 as the fourth Pirate scorer.
SPENCERVILLE__The visiting Bluffton High School girls soccer team shut out Spencerville 1-0 in the Northwest Conference opener on Tuesday, September 1.
The Pirate girls improved to 2-2 overall and 1-0 in the NWC with the defensive battle win.
The Bearcats fell to 1-3-1 overall and 0-1 in NWC play after the defeat.
The game was scoreless at halftime, and stayed 0-0 25 minutes into the second half.
Bluffton’s Nora Matthews then netted the game’s lone goal in the 65th minute unassisted to break the tie.

MEDIA RELEASE__Bluffton University alumnus and journalist Rick Ramseyer '83 will present “Steadfast Faith: Martha Graber's Landmark Fight for U.S. Citizenship” at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 15, in Yoder Recital Hall.
Ramseyer will reflect on his grandmother's courageous struggle to gain U.S. citizenship despite being a conscientious objector to war.
