Bluffton For Hope - formerly known as Bluffton Relay for Life, will hold a "bowl for hope" event at Southgate Lanes, Bluffton, on Saturday, April 4, according to Lynda Best.
The first shift bowls at 1 p.m. and the second at 6 p.m. The first 50 paid entries for each shift may participate. A $20 registration per bowler is required and checks are made to: Southgate Lanes.
Dr. Larry Starr, head athletic trainer for the Cincinnati Reds for 21 years, including the “Big Red Machine” teams of the 1970s, will be the keynote speaker for Bluffton University’s annual Civic Engagement Day.
His March 25 address on athletics and lifelong learning is free and open to the public beginning at 7:30 p.m. in Yoder Recital Hall.
Jerry Suter will share some of Suter’s Produce trade secrets with members of the Bluffton Senior Citizens during its April dinner meeting, according to Tonya Meyer, director. He is the guest speaker at the dinner meeting.
The dinner, at the Center, is at 6 p.m., Wednesday, April 13. Tickets are $7.50 and must be purchased by Wednesday, April 8. The dinner is catered by women of the Mt. Cory United Methodist Church. Roger Edwards is the master of ceremonies.
Jake Harmon, Bluffton University sophomore, does some squat warm ups in the Sommer Center on campus. Harmon, a Crestview grad, is a middle childhood major. He is also linebacker on the Beaver football team.
Now they can perform. This winter The Icon watched the progress of Bluffton Child Development Center kindergarten puppets under construction. The puppets are now finished and ready for their show. March is student art month and several outstanding art works by Bluffton and Cory-Rawson art students are on display at the Bluffton Public Library.
