Harold Dean Falk, 86, died Friday, June 18, 2021 at The Meadows of Delphos.  Dean was born in Mt. Cory, Ohio, on Nov. 15, 1934, to the late William Donald “Bus” Falk and Edna Rae (Frantz) Falk. He married Carol Mathewson and was later married to Janice Stoddard. 

Dean worked at Lima Ford Engine Plant in Lima for 34 years as an assembly line worker, a foreman, general foreman and finished as a superintendent.  He enjoyed attending his kids and grandkids sporting events, woodworking, collecting/refinishing antiques, boating/fishing on Lake Erie and bird watching.

Marilyn Brunn Osting is a 1950 graduate of Bluffton High School

Alven and Marilyn Osting will celebrating their 69th wedding anniversary on July 4. Marilyn (Brunn) graduated from Bluffton High School in 1950.

Alven and Marilyn were married July 4, 1952, at Delphos St. John’s Church in Delphos.

They also will each be celebrating their 90th birthdays later this year. Marilyn was born Oct. 28, 1931, and Alven was born Nov. 15, 1931. They share four boys and one girl, Phil, Jeff, Rob, Chris, and Cheryl.

Marlin Gerber is taking orders for fresh Michigan blueberries. These come in a 10-pound box for $29. 

They are available by order only, and may be picked up on Friday, July 9, from 2 to 3 p.m. in the First Mennonite Church parking lot.

He was very active in many village activities

Former Beaverdam mayor, John Milton Howard, 82, died June 28, 2021, at Mennonite Memorial Home, Bluffton. John was born July 1, 1938 in Lima to the late Ralph Milton and Ruth Elizabeth (Brenizer) Howard. On Feb. 2, 1958, he married Betty Schick Howard who survives.

Summer reading program continues at Bluffton Public Library

Here's the July update on events planned at the Bluffton Public Library.

Bluffton Public Library continues its 2021 Summer Program, “Tails and Tales!” On Beanstack, patrons track their reading and completed activities in order to earn badges and tickets.

Eli Okuley (left) and Jonah Brown (right), seniors at Bluffton High School in the fall, participated in Ohio American Legion Buckeye Boys State. The event was June 13-20 at Miami University, Oxford. They were sponsored by the Bluffton American Legion Post 382 and the Bluffton Lions Club. Eli is the son of Bruce and Carole Okuley. Jonah is the son of William and Teresa Brown.
